Lyrics and Music by Michele Payton.
This song is special to my heart because of the lesson I learned when God gave it to me. When I moved to the Warsaw area I lost my regular church family and, more importantly, my accountability partner. I knew that God was nudging me to find another one, but I was taking my time about it. I had just finished the book “The Purpose Driven Life” and was finally convicted that God wanted me to quit stalling and find someone. I started praying and filling out a list of what I thought God wanted me to look for. I needed a mature Christian woman, who knew the Bible, would not gossip, and who was a prayer warrior. God provided! The first day, on my way to meet with my new accountability partner, God gave me the first half of this song. I received the rest of it on the return trip home. Once I arrived home, I sat down at the piano and God worked through my hands to finish up the music. I know now that God rewarded me with this song for my obedience to Him. I can’t imagine how much better the song would have been if I had obeyed sooner! For all of you out there who are stalling about what God wants you to do — go do it!
Ecclesiastes 11:7-10 – Truly the light is sweet, And it is pleasant for the eyes to behold the sun; But if a man lives many years And rejoices in them all, Yet let him remember the days of darkness, For they will be many. All that is coming is vanity. Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, Walk in the ways of your heart, And in the sight of your eyes; But know that for all these God will bring you into judgment. Therefore remove sorrow from your heart, And put away evil from your flesh, For childhood and youth are vanity.
